1000 Years

Do you know what book in the Bible never mentions God? Coming on Friday is the book of Esther! Don’t miss it!

Revelation 20

This is the “reign for a 1000 years” chapter. The tribulation ends in chapter 19 with the coming of Jesus, the mighty warrior. He throws the beast and his side-kick, the false prophet, into the lake of fire, (the place of eternal punishment), along with all people on earth that follow the beast. Now that His enemies are gone, He sets up His earthly kingdom, the Millennium, His 1000 year reign on earth.  There’s not a lot of detail here but references to the Millennium are throughout the OT and the gospels.

A well-known section is Isaiah 11 says, “He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips, He will slay the wicked,” v4. His second coming has happened and the end of the Tribulation is here. Isaiah 11 continues, “And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the goat, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little boy will lead them,” v5-6. “The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child will put his hand on the vipers den. They will not hurt or destroy in all my Holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord,” v8-9.   Happy days are here again.

The world we all long for

The Millennium begins with Jesus casting the dragon into the abyss (not the lake of fire….yet). The Abyss is a holding place during these 1000 years, and Satan is locked away and powerless. Thus, the earth is filled with the Knowledge of God and the deceptive influences of Satan, which we see today and will be especially prominent during the tribulation, are gone. This isn’t heaven but it is the closest thing to ‘heaven on earth’ since Eden before sin entered the world. It will be the earth that all of us Christians long for.

Imagine a world that is filled with the knowledge of God.

Today, hundreds of millions do not even know the name of Jesus. And billions who have heard of Him, reject Him as irrelevant. In today’s massive void of the (true) knowledge of Jesus, I can’t help but think about how blessed I am to KNOW Him. I haven’t done anything worthy of the blessings of God, but I KNOW that Jesus has paid it all for me. I KNOW it and I am blessed beyond words to KNOW HIM. A knowledge of Him that was given to me by Him. Satan lives to hinder me of this knowledge, but in my case, Satan failed. A million thanks I give to God for such a blessing. Ephesians 1.9 “In all wisdom and insight, He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposes in Him.”  Thank you Lord!!!
