Psalms 139, part two

In this Pic I’m with two dear friends whom I work with, Scott and Jalyn, while on an exploratory business trip to Ireland several years ago. In this picture we were in Tullamore where the city officials were proud to give us a tour of the Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey distillery. Unfortunately, the business opportunity did not work out and I haven’t been back. A beautiful country!

Psalms 139, part two

“For you formed my inward parts; you wove me in my mother’s womb.” Yesterday in reflecting on an earlier portion of Ps 139, I said that it’s amazing to consider that GOD’S attributes are directed toward me, not just generally but personally.  All the greatness that exists within Him and all that He is, He is TOWARD me.

In this section, David writes very specifically about GOD’S attention being directed, like a laser, toward him personally and by inference, it is directed toward us as well. It is stunning to consider. The intricate intimacy of God’s creative attention toward me personally is described. “You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb”. He gave attention to my physicality, my personality, my DNA.  List five things you don’t like about yourself. All the areas of personal dissatisfaction I have lamented over for years were actually GOD’s intentions. Instead of dissatisfaction, David proclaims “Wonderful are your works! When I was made in secret, I was skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth.” “And to You, Lord, while you were dwelling over my creation, You wrote in your book, the specifics of the life I would live and all that you ordained for me,” v16. And then the climatic statement “how precious also are Your thoughts toward me, O God, how vast is the sum of them,” v17. Lord, you think of me continually, past, present and future. Thoughts of me never cease in your mind. And these thoughts You have toward are precious to You. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
