Prayers of the Martyrs
Here’s one more Christmas morning pic!
Revelation 15
This is a short summary chapter of a scene in heaven which foreshadows events to come. It’s a prelude to the coming seven bowls of judgement. The final acts of wrath during the tribulation. There are seven angels that hold the final seven plagues of the tribulation. There is also a sea of faithful followers of God who suffered and were martyred by the evil world system lead by the beast. The martyrs sing to God:
And they *sang the song of Moses, the bond-servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
“Great and marvelous are Your works,
O Lord God, the Almighty;
Righteous and true are Your ways,
King of the nations!
“Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy;
For all the nations will come and worship before You,
For Your righteous acts have been revealed.”
If you suffered and were martyred during the tribulation, what would you say when you first arrive in heaven? They will sing of the faithfulness of God and of the surety of His vindication against the wicked who oppose Him. When it says that all nations will come and worship Him, I’m not sure if it is voluntary out of love or if out of overwhelming fear and surrender? Either way, the final flurry of wrath is coming and Jesus will take back the earth.
Personally, I’m ready to move on from these wrath chapters and get to the chapters of triumph and His millennial rule! (I guess this is why I go verse by verse and chapter by chapter through the Bible. Otherwise, I would tend to skip over certain portions and focus on more appealing sections of the Bible). Lord, You are doing a work in these chapters of wrath that I don’t always fully understand. Nevertheless, what I do understand and know if that You are holy, You are righteous and You are Almighty in ALL your works. I surrender myself to Your plan for my life and Your plan for the final days. Amen.
