Psalms 144
If your grandson says, “let’s go wash your car, Pop”, then you go wash the car…even if it’s a chilly day.
Psalms 144
God is everything to us but the emphasis here is God is our Strength. He is strong and Almighty, and we are so blessed because He is strong on our behalf. He directs His strength toward us, for us and on our behalf for our good.
We need His strength. There are many forces (spiritual and natural) allied against us. Verse 2 is especially descriptive: “His strength is girded by LOVINGKINDESS.” His strength directed toward us is for our protection, our keeping, our good, and on behalf of us. Verse2 also describes His might as a fortress; my stronghold; my deliverer; My shield; my refuge.
What is more dreadful than evil power. Conversely, what is more comforting and blissful than being protected by lovingkindness that is girded with unlimited power. Additionally, what is more wonderful than knowing that our God who possesses infinite strength fortified with love is far stronger than any evil power that exists. Lord, all Your attributes are amazing. But when we consider Your strength blended together with Your love toward us, well, it is beyond words. With this knowledge, we can say, “You are my fortress, my stronghold, my deliverer, my shield and my refuge. Amen
