Remember

This is Zamorian. The Z-man. He was in our home as a foster child when he was young. Leigh and I had a reunion meeting with him last December. We love him and pray for him daily!

Revelation 3:1-6

This is the letter from Jesus to the church at Sardis. I find the opening line a little confusing. He says to the church “you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Wake up, strengthen the things that remain, which are about to die…” So, you’re alive, but dead but not dead yet??? And then “Wake Up.” Unless you’re Lazarus, waking up from dead is hard to do.  Anyway, one thing we know for sure, they are not heading in the right direction. V3 says, “so remember what you have received and heard; and keep it and repent.”  This reminds me of some of David’s psalms. He will begin by releasing words of utter despair, sorrow and mourning. You would think he’s about to die. Then he REMEMBERS God, His greatness, His attributes, His deeds and David turns from sorrow to rejoicing and from self-pity to worship.

I wonder if Jesus might say similar things to us if He were writing a direct letter to us. He might say something like, “you’re kinda acting like you’re dead but I know you’re not….not just yet. You think you have plenty of time but I’m telling you, YOU DON’T. Wake up!!! Repent and turn to me with your heart, soul and spirit.”

Lord, may I remember and be mindful throughout the day of what I have received and heard from You. I am blessed beyond description; you know my name, v5, and my name is on Your lips – you speak about me with the Father and Your angels, v5. What do you say? You say, “Larry is worthy”, v4b, and “Larry is one that has overcome. I know his name and it is written in My book. Therefore, bring Me the white garments reserved for the redeemed; the holy and pure, so that I can clothe Larry in them” v4b, 5a. Wow, what a blessing. May I not take these blessings for granted. May I remember what I have, what I have received and keep it! Amen!
